SOKAD was founded in 2007 by a group of Southern Kaduna State indigenes in the United States and Canada. SOKAD, U.S.A. was formed in 2008 after the adaption of by-laws and election of its first Executive members, as mandated by SOKAD’s Constitution. The following were the first elected officers of SOKAD, U.S.A- they served two two-year terms until 2012 when new officers were elected:
- President: Professor Tunga Lergo
- Secretary: Engr. Dauda A. Nuhu
- Treasurer/Financial Secretary: Ms. Alice Osunde ( later replaced by Dr. Freeman Kamuru)
